Belisarius - "Mariovo"
A review by Cristy, Score! Magazine - September 2002
Band name: Belisarius - Mariovo
Location: My guess is somewhere in Europe. (note - she's correct, England to be precise)
Initial Impression: The CD says five tracks but my media player is telling me ten - what's up with that??
Notable Lyric: "And you never knew what was on the ground til they made you crawl" from Track 7/Bonus track #2.
Factoid: There's a small flock of sheep that look to be following a man that is clearly NOT a shepherd on the cover art.
Serve With: A "Buy one, Get One Free" sale.
Comments: The album's dual gender vocals add great depth to all the tracks, but there are moments in "My Religion Is Love" and "Let Me Touch You" where the male lead vocals falter a bit.. "December" and "Let Me Touch You" are rife with Italian guitars, but the latter kicks in a bit of bass-heavy funk as well. I could easily curse the FIVE bonus/unlisted tracks for doubling my work, but with the exception of instrumental track 9, they're laden with attitude, rock guitars, and saxophones.
