Medicine Sunday - "Unseen Rain"
A review by Cristy, Score! Magazine - September 2002
Band name: Medicine Sunday - Unseen Rain
Location: England.
Initial Impression: Because I was told this was a "British blues" band I was suprised to find the first track to be so upbeat.
Notable Lyric: "I know love's a long road but I'm not built to last" from the folk tale of a crumbling relationship "Against The Tide".
Factoid: Both Dylan and Rolls play harmonica on the album (I know it's weak, there's no info out there!)
Serve With: John Popper's harmonica.
Comments: Considering everything the American culture has "borrowed", it's interesting to see another country return the favor. Honestly, this isn't your parents/grandparents/funky college professor's blues album. Tracy Jewell's backing vocals made "Billy"'s story melancholy and haunting, and lead vocals in "Stranger In My House" mournful and lonely. "Mind the Gap" is probably the closest to ‘traditional' or ‘old-school blues' you'll find here.
