Oysterville Underground - "Tsunami"
A review by May Wiseman, Score! Magazine - December 2002

Band name: Oysterville Underground - Tsunami

Location: Oysterville, WA.

Initial Impression: Melodic, ambient keyboards and vocals. Juke pop at times.

Notable Lyric: "C A L M C A L M C A L M Why Can't You Be Calm?" (C.A.L.M.)

Factoid: Driscoll started playing guitar at the age 12, and apparently poses as an oyster farmer.

Serve With: A surfboard, and a dozen oysters- shee-yeah

Comments: The concept behind this album is the tsunami, a theory of this great tidal wave caused by submarine earth movements, or a massive volcanic eruption that ultimately will create an enormous tidal wave which scientists believe may happen in our lifetime. The music here is mellow and the lyrics pertain to the wave throughout, even being somewhat arrogant at times. "Please be nice", "Tsunami Inspired Truth" and "Fairy Tales" all have that juke style approach to incorporate a pop sound while other tracks like "Tsunami Cult" and "Tsunami" are odd approaches to old washed-up riffs and getting in touch with the "wave". Very peculiar work here.
